What an extraordinary chap Barack Obama has turned out to be. For a President to come out (no pun intended) for gay marriage in an election year is nothing short of heroic. He'll win a lot of support from the gay community and more poignantly, according to a counsellor chum I recently spoke too, he will send a strong positive message to countless young people, on the verge of suicide because of their sexuality and subsequent harassment by their peers, that the President of the United States is telling them that they are not alone.
Mitt Romney on the other hand is sticking to his ideal that marriage is only relevant if it is between a man and a woman - but being a Mormon, does that mean a man and a woman and a woman and a woman and a woman ad infinitum? On the other hand, if he did become President, think of all the events his First Ladies  could cover...!
Obama has paved the way for acceptance of an issue that is as irrelevant and as abhorrent as the condemnation of mixed race marriages 20 years ago.
Way to go, Obama - let's hope your country realises that they deserve a man of principle as opposed to men of trickle down sycophancy.

Hello all, now that I am firmly ensconced back in sunny Minnesota (actually it's bloody freezing) I can attend to sending out the replacement CDs. Apologies to those who were affected.

There was a dodgy run on a few copies of my 'To Be Perfectly Frank' CD and hopefully you will receive them within the next week or so.

If anyone else has had a problem, do let me know and of course a replacement will be despatched tout suite.

No need to say a word... just remember...

Busy couple of days converting video and music files for this site - looks like it might take a lot longer than I initially thought. In between pounding my head in exasperation off my computer monitor, managed to finish an extraordinary book on Sinatra, written by his former valet/cook George Jacobs it is called simply "Mr. S" (link: http://www.amazon.com/Mr-My-Life-Frank-Sinatra/dp/B000C4T29E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315403788&sr=8-1) and I cannot reccomend it highly enough. I thought I had read pretty much everything on Frank but this was was true eyeopener and Jacobs tells it how it was, warts and all (Frank had many it seems!) but despite being quite callously dismissed from service after nearly 20 years, Jacobs writes about his former boss with a lot of affection. If you like gossip then this is a cracker!
So have now started the 4th volume of Dewey Lamdin's wonderful series on Alan Lewrie RN - Flashman meets O'Brien. Again a good reccomendation for anyone interested in navy history...
Oh well, back to the editing... the things I do for you...!

Well - here it is at long last - a new website and from little acorns and all that.  I remember Johnny Dankworth hitting a certain age and then suddely deciding to become simply 'John Dankworth'. Thought it was a bit pretentious at first but now that I've hit 'that' age, I can see his point! So I am now Laurence...
I will blog as often as I decently can and hope you will pop back and glean my occasional pearl of wisdom and other nonsense!
In the meantime, thanks for dropping by... xo
